Successfully working with the community to deliver a local TEDx event.
TED, a non-profit organisation devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading, started out in California in 1984. Through its conferences, talks and prizes it has become a global phenomenon. The TEDx program gives communities, organisations and individuals the opportunity to stimulate dialogue through TED-like experiences at a local level. TEDx events are planned and co-ordinated independently and Bonfire has sponsored and helped co-organise 2 successful TEDxBedford events.
Utilising the TED brand colour palette, Bonfire created a suite of high impact, visually arresting and engaging materials in both digital and print media to promote the TEDx Bedford event under its ‘Everyday Radicals’ theme.
On social media channels we integrated the event-centric information with TED content to increase interest, raise awareness and reinforce this first for Bedford as part of the ‘TED stable’.
TEDx events are limited to 100 attendees and the event sold out well in advance (tickets were priced at £65 per head). The proactive event marketing activity created awareness locally amongst individuals and businesses, strongly associated the event to the main TED brand values and aspirations and created a real buzz locally within the business, creative, public and third sectors. In addition, there were far more applications for the coveted speaker slots on the programme than spaces available. Speakers came from all over the UK and the likes of Mark Kelly from Marillion, Jack Lang of Raspberry Pi and filmmaker, and ex-skids frontman, Richard Jobson came to bring a little TEDx magic to this rural town.
The second TEDxBedford event under the theme of 'byDesign' drew speakers from as far as France and included Jonathan Sands OBE from Elmwood, Jeremy Lindley from Diageo and Jean-Baptiste Danet of Dragon Rouge. Full speaker details and videos can be found on the website www.tedxbedford.com.
Bonfire were absolutely key to the success of both TEDxBedford events. The support they gave, from website design and build, programme design plus the set design and build was a key component in making TEDxBedford the successful, professional event with a lasting impact and legacy. We can’t thank them enough.
Proud to be helping promote 'ideas worth sharing'.
